Memaw visits

My mom came to visit this past week and spend some time with me and Ty. Tyson had a great time playing with his Memaw! He has also figured out the camera and has started cheesing it up when we go to take his picture:) He loves to look at himself once the picture is made as well. Anyway, my mom was a wonderful help and I was able to get 4-5 loads of laundry done, and actually work for 2 days! It was a very productive week. Ty did great with my mom and I really appreciated her watching him for me so I could catch up on a few things that needing doing. The weather was great for us for the most part and we were able to get out every day and take walks and enjoy the sunshine. Tyson even found an earthworm while playing in the grass with my mom and they brought it in to show me. Gross!! Silas says I have to get used to looking at "treasures" like this, since that what being a mom to a little boy is all about!!! Here are some cute pictures from our week.

I'm not sure why his nose is always orange, but that is just the way it is all the time!

Easter

Tyson's first Easter was pretty uneventful. We made it to early church and really enjoyed the service. Tyson was kind of wound up and was super active throughout the whole service, which was a little exhausting!! I promise I did not give him any of the chocolate in his Easter basket:) He was not too sure what to think about his basket, but went straight for some candy and stuck it right in his mouth. Of course it was really there for decoration (aka...for me to eat later!), but he thought it was for him. He had fun playing with the plastic eggs though. I had every intention of dying some eggs this year, but time got away from me, and Tyson didn't know any different, so I didn't stress about it. We will just save the dye kit for next year. We did not go to the church Easter egg hunt either, since little man can't even walk. We figured all of these activities will be much more exciting when he is a year older and can participate more. You can't really tell from the pictures, but I actually wore a dress to church! I got several nice comments since people never see me in a dress:) Who knows, I might even try a skirt in the next few weeks!!! Anyway, here are the pictures from our Easter. Silas and I worked hard to get one of us together, and I thought the one of the boys outside was cute.

8 months

I can't believe my little guy is already 8 months old!! Time goes so fast. He is totally "all boy" and wears me out daily. He is a rough and tumble kind of kid and very very strong for his age. He is so active all the time, and always alert. He plays hard and he sleeps hard. I guess that is a good combination. He still doesn't have any teeth, but wants to eat everything he can reach. We have majorly increased his amount of food at meals since he acts like he is starving all the time. He loves the Gerber 3rd food meals like lasagna and chicken noodles. He has also started eating table food, though we have to smash it all up because of the no teeth issue. He continues to like everything he puts in his mouth:) The time change has done wonders for his schedule too. Even though we "lost" an hour, I gained some time!! He used to sleep from 7 pm til 7am. Now he is on an 8 pm to 8 am schedule, and I love it. We get to do more in the evenings now since he is up later, which is great since the weather is getting nice and we can spend more time outside. I am also not complaining at all about the extra hour of sleep in the mornings. I actually wake up before him now and can eat a bowl of cereal and have a minute to get my mind going before he gets up. Its great!! Hopefully things will stay this way! I know he still looks bald in the pictures, but he really is getting more hair!! Maybe I should take a picture of the back of his head!! Anyway, we are doing good and somewhat settling down for the time being. We should close on the house this week which will be such a relief. My mom is coming for the week too, which I am super excited about! I actually get to get some laundry done and chores that have been piling up since the move. Plus we will just get to hang out and catch up, which I am looking forward to as well:) I will post Easter pictures soon!

House Pictures!

Ok, here are a couple of the pictures of the progress on our new house over the past few weeks. I am constantly amazed at how fast it went from nothing to a house, but very thrilled at the same time! They wired it for electricity this week, the heat and air guy is doing his thing this week, and the bathtubs should be going in by this weekend. I think they are getting ready to start the shingles on the roof as well. It has been hard work staying ahead of the game as far as making our choices for things goes, since they are going so fast. Not the worst problem to have, but since we don't live there yet, we are having to make some special trips to Jonesboro to get stuff picked out in a short amount of time. I am most excited about the kitchen, which wont be done until later. We are working on picking out the light fixtures next and making up our minds about paint colors. We picked out all the flooring last weekend while we were out there too. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures. I can't wait til they start to brick it, and then when the inside starts coming together. There will difinitely be more pictures then!

Gorgeous Girls

I love love love this picture!!!! This is a recent picture of my two adorable nieces, Kia and Kaylee. I hate that I don't get to see them as often as I would like, but look forward to spending some time with them next month when we head to Nashville. They are growing up so fast on me, I can't stand it! Just wanted to share some pics of the rest of my family:)

Treading Water

Ever feel overwhelmed by life and like you are treading water and just trying to keep your head from going under? Yeah, me too. It is just one of those crazy times in life where there are too many things that need to get done than there are hours in the day. People like me....anal people who usually feel pretty efficient and organized and on the ball....we hate times like this. I am trying to get my life back to some recognizable sense of organization, but it is proving more difficult than I thought. Here are the highlights of the past week, in no particular order.

1) We moved into a little apartment...I had it totally unpacked in 2 days, but still can't find anything because its just not that familiar to me
2) We still have quite a few things sitting in the garage of the old house, but just no time to get everything loaded up and moved, so I am spending a lot of time running back and forth picking things up that I need from the house. Sigh.
3) We have 3 fantastically loud college guys that live in the apartment above us. BIG SIGH. Can you say Guitar Hero??? All hours of everyday, heavy metal thumping guitar hero playing and stomping on the ceiling loudness. Guitar Hero is not conducive to little Ty's nap schedule, or college guys schedules in general are not conducive to our schedule in general.
4) I miss my quiet house and being in control of my environment. This has been a huge struggle for me especially, since there is not much I can do about any of it.
5) Which leads me to....If you cant beat 'em, join 'em. I may go knocking on the door upstairs soon and ask to try my hand at Guitar Hero.....hey, I just might like it!
6) Laundry. I don't have a washer or dryer in the apartment, so I have to use the one in the front of the complex...you know, the community one. Another big sigh. I forgot the stress of remembering to hoard your quarters like crazy just so you could have some clean underwear that week.
7) Babies make lots of messes, which leads to lots of dirty clothes, which leads again to sadness that there is just no good way to drag the baby and the mound of dirty clothes and detergent to the washers and back several times a day.
8) Someone keeps taking my assigned parking spot. I have now become that person who leaves sweet (yes sweet) little notes on people's windshields politely asking them to not take my spot again. It worked:)

oh goodness, I know this has turned into a lot of whining and complaining. Sorry. I am just slow to adjust and that is something I am not used to. I work on my attitude daily and look hard for things to be grateful for, which really isn't hard when it comes down to it. The things that are bothering me are simply annoyances, not really any major challenge. I guess it can be the little things that all add up in a day though that can sometimes wear you down. Please pray for my attitude in this time of transition that I may find strength to get through the little stresses, and learn to have joy in all circumstances:) Despite the stress of the moment, life is still good!

P.S. Our new house is going up FAST and it is totally exciting. I saw it for the first time this weekend and it's crazy how far along they are already. We have lots of great pictures, but the camera is still in Jonesboro, so I will have to post those in the next few days. That will be a very happy post for sure!!

Splish Splash

Ty has been doing very well sitting up lately, and is very proud to show off his skills in the bathtub:) He loves to sit in there and play with his toys after supper. Just this week he has really gotten into kicking and splashing the water around, and just smiles and laughs the whole time. I am glad he enjoys bath time, and especially water, since we have so many water toys for him this summer!! I couldn't get too many good shots with him looking, but here are a few cute ones of him in the tub.
