Tyson and a Texas Funeral

Thought I would post a few pictures of little man hard at play over the past month. These are also meant to be some of the "before" pictures of his hair. I should have some of the "after" the haircut up here soon.
We have had a super crazy week around the Orbison house. Silas' great-grandmother passed away on Friday morning of last week. She was 107 years old!!! Ruth was a wonderful Christian woman and left behind a huge family who love her very much. While packing for the trip to Texas for the funeral on Saturday evening, Silas realized he didn't own a suit, so off we rushed to the mall to buy him an appropriate outfit. While he was trying on suits, he gets another phone call letting him know that his grandmother had also passed away that evening. Talk about a double whammy. So one funeral in Texas turned into two. The rest of the week has been a whirlwind for us. We spent a little over 22 hours in the car from Sunday to Wednesday, went to two funerals, and came back in time to work a few days to wrap up the week. Needless to say we are all exhausted, emotionally and physically.
While it is sad to lose a loved one, it was such a privilege to be able to attend encouraging and uplifting memorials to celebrate some wonderful Christian women in our family. Silas and I both discussed the week (during our many hours in the car) and both came to the conclusion that we are so blessed to have such a rich legacy of faith in our family and such tremendous living examples of how to walk the walk. We often take that for granted, and I know we should not. We both came away with a renewed sense of importance for living out our faith daily and the importance of being examples in our own homes and family. It is such a comfort to know these sweet ladies are finally home resting with Jesus, and were so dearly loved while they were here with us:) Our prayers are for Jack, Silas' grandpa, who lost his mother and wife within 2 days of each other. He has handled everything with such poise, though I know he will be lonely at times.
It was a hard trip, but worth every second. It was so nice to be able to connect with members of the family who live so far away. I took my camera but never took a picture, as I could never find an appropriate moment during all the events. I just wanted to thank everyone who has been praying for our family. It means a lot to us.
