Baby Update

I went in for my 12 week appointment today. They really didn't do anything, except that I got to hear the heart beat for the first time. It was so beautiful:) Nice and loud and steady, and sitting right on my bladder! I knew it! So far everything is progressing well. I have managed to gain about 4 pounds despite throwing up, since I cram food down my throat all day to keep the nausea at bay. Since Tyson was a nice big healthy baby at birth, they are screening me for gestational diabetes early this time, even though I don't think its necessary! So I drank the lovely orange drink an hour before my appointment and didn't eat before hand like I was supposed to. Then I sat in the waiting room for about 45 minutes before being called back and by the time the doctor saw me, it was past the point where they could take blood to check my glucose levels!!! So he says, sorry, I guess you have to drink it AGAIN for next time. Fabulous! And then I get to do it again at 28 weeks. Thank goodness the stuff is not that bad:) It made for a weird day though.

Anyway, the best part is that March 10th is the big day. Ultrasound day and find out what sex the baby is day!!!! Silas and I started talking to Tyson a few weeks before his big gender revealing day, encouraging him to be cooperative and not be shy for the camera:) It worked, so we are planning to start having our little chats with this one as well. If you asked us at this point, I think both of us would say that we are thinking girl this time. The best way I know how to explain it, is that a silly home test told us so! Beyond that, no clue. We will be thrilled either way and don't care what it is, but its fun to think about. I guess my line of thinking is that it will be so easy for this to be another boy, since I have all the stuff, they will be close in age, and will be born in the same season. Perfect!! So if its a boy we just go on cruise control. But a girl would shake things up quite a bit, so I am thinking in that direction, just because it will be pretty different and I want to get my mind wrapped around it:) You know me, the planner. Whichever will be great, so I will get what I want either way:)

I have complained an awful lot this pregnancy just due mostly to physically not feeling well, and I am really trying to re-focus my thinking and just praise God for blessing us like he has! I am looking forward to seeing Tyson fall into the role of big brother, and watching how our family dynamics change as we grow. It is going to be a crazy and fun year around here!

I can't believe you find out the sex on March 10th...crazy! Time is flying by so fast; I wish I could hit a pause button and freeze time for just a moment to catch my breath.
Do you and Silas have names picked yet? Hopefully, if you do, you will not be like me and change it later, but I wouldn't name her anything else than Claire.
Has the throwing up subsided a little?
One thing Jonathon and I did to get Olivia involved in the pregnancy and to prep her for a new baby was tell her who was in my belly and tell her what was going to happen in terms that she could understand.
Sorry to hear about the Diabetes testing. I didn't know they could even test for that this early. Good thing the juice isn't too horrible. :)

Glad the appt. went well. Sorry about the orange juice...
I think its a girl. That's my prediction. You've said you feel different this time around, plus I just want another little girl to buy things for!
Whatever it is, you're a great mom and a great sister and a great wife and a great everything! I've loved being able to talk so much these last several months, and having someone who I know will always answer the phone when I call! Hope you feel better soon:)
